KOMBU EVENTS
We are giving a prom party with musical instruments like param, davil, nathaswaram, udukai, salara, and sangku to attract the fans of today. We also stage Poikkal horse, Kavadi, Karakam, Mayilatam, Waiilatam, Puliyattam, Devaratam, Kaalayatam etc. For this our artists spend their time and take many trainings.
We have played Tamil instruments in Tamil organization programs in Washington DC, Virginia, Maryland, Illinois, Pennsylvania, Delaware, New Jersey, New York, Tennessee, Texas, North Carolina, Michigan, Ohio. And there are arrangements to conduct workshops and performing arts in many provinces.
We create fusion music that illuminates our traditional instruments in a new light. We strive to perform alongside international musicians. As modern music styles suppress traditional forms, it becomes difficult to attract non-Tamils. However, we believe that by combining traditional music with modern elements, we can make it relevant and mind-blowing, and we also perform parallel shows. At Capital One, Visa and many other corporates, we have performed performing arts to attract non-Tamils as well.
KOMBU ACHIEVEMENTS
Many special guests from Tamil Nadu have attended many events held at the Washington District Tamil Society. They are very appreciative of our performances. We have also received accolades from the Presidents of the World Tamil Studies Forum and the North American Tamil Sangha Council. Salomon Papaiah and Napoleon spoke highly of our performing arts on stage at the recent Tennessee Tamil Society event.
Audiences who witness our performances also become part of our horn after being trained in our workshops. This is our highest reward and recognition. Also, school students and college students are attracted and join us. Our main aim is to carry this Tamil genetic group to the next generation and we are very happy to see this happening.
